Whether you just ran out of case studies to showcase or you're new to blogging you might find some business blogging ideas to get you going here.

As we all know, blogging is the ultimate way to get helpful relevant and unique content on to your website (if you're undecided check out why your website needs a blog).  Google loves it, and your visitors do too.  All round it's very, very helpful.  But what can you blog about?

1. How To..

'How to' blogs (and especially videos) are the most popular resources on the internet, and they apply to all business sectors.  So as an example, being as we're web designers we might write about 'how to choose a web designer' or a short simple article about 'how to do a browser refresh' . It's all about help, and original content.

Adding numbers takes it up a step because we're all human and the numbers will make it much more appealing.  So 'How to choose a web designer in 3 steps' gives it an edge.. Makes it more clickable.

What you're doing with a 'how to' blog is helping people with your knowledge of the industry you're in and this is key to business blogging - help.  You know what people should look for and avoid when they're choosing somebody in your industry..  Qualifications, accreditations, reviews, case studies, punctuality, answering the phone, politeness and so on.  Just make a few sub-headings and get writing.

How To Tell if _____
How To Find _____
How To Get Rid Of  _____

A little imagination goes a long way.

2. The Problems/Advantages With..

Whether it's products or services you can always find good and bad.  The problems with aluminum tubing. The advantages of Welsh slate.  And again with numbers..  500 Disadvantages of Offshore Help Centres.  Seven Advantages of Android over IOS.  Take the problem/disadvantage concept a step further and you end up with comparison articles such as  'This vs That - Which is Best?'. If you're a builder a simple idea might be 'These Bricks vs Those Bricks' or a carpenter might write about the advantages of a tongue and groove joint over a bridle joint and what they both mean.

3. Questions You Should Ask.

Six Questions You Should Ask Your ____.  You know you're good at what you do, so you'll know what questions your potential customers should ask other suppliers in your market that will kill the cowboys and set you apart.  You could completely re-word and re-format your 'How To Choose' blog in order to create a 'Questions You Should Ask' blog.

4. What Does ___ Mean?  What is a _____?

Describe some jargon in your industry.  Work around it, maybe some history, your approach, and other names it might be known by.  For example, 'hosting' is a term most people associate with dinner parties and so on, but for us it means something completely different so we wrote a blog about What Is Hosting.

5. Reasons Why.. Why Does..

This is a great blogging idea you can add numbers to..  Ten Awesome Reasons You Should ____.  Or Five Reasons Why___.  Or just without numbers like Reasons Not To Use WordPress!

6. Why ___ is Overrated/Underrated.

Or even better 'Ten Reasons Why ___ is Overrated' etc.  The list is endless here - it doesn't matter what you do you'll know what works and what doesn't,

Some SEO Considerations

Whilst your primary focus is helping visitors to your website, you would do well to consider Google's view of your post.  Think what search phrase you would want to trigger your post and put it in your title, description and body - check out the SEO fundamentals here.

The key to writing blogs is to use your knowledge and experience to help people visiting your website.  Whatever you think might help your visitors is worth blogging.  And even if people only skim it, they'll get the jist and it will do you a world of good form all angles.  There's no downside to creating a blog.
